Since the Early Access launch on January 13, 2026, Hytale has received several rapid-fire updates to stabilize the game and introduce the first wave of post-launch content.
Below is a compilation of the patch notes and major updates from the launch through February 2026.
The Launch & Initial Hotfixes (Jan 13 – Jan 15, 2026)
The launch period focused exclusively on stability and critical connectivity issues caused by the massive player influx.
Connectivity: Fixed "invalid token" errors caused by system clock desync. The client now automatically switches to Offline Mode if authentication fails.
Stability: Fixed a crash during character creation when selecting certain hair/eyebrow combinations.
Gameplay: Fixed a critical bug where using a bucket could crash the server and break nearby workbenches.
Regional Fixes: Resolved an issue preventing players in Norway from launching the game.
Update 1: The "Jungle & Quality of Life" Patch (Jan 17, 2026)
This update introduced the first batch of new content while refining early-game mechanics.
New Content: Added dinosaurs and new NPCs to underground jungle biomes (require new chunk generation).
Farming & Survival: * Players can now sleep starting at 7:30 PM (moved from 7:00 PM).
Backpack crafting requirement halved (8 Medium Leather instead of 16).
Skeletons no longer take drowning damage.
Combat: Weapon attacks now strictly check for line of sight.
Visuals: Added new eye types (Cat, Demonic, Reptile) and lavender hair color.
Update 2: Necromancy & Mining Overhaul (Jan 24, 2026)
Update 2 was the first major gameplay expansion, introducing a new magic system and a total rework of the mining meta.
Necromancy System: Introduced the Necromancy Grimoire (dropped by Skeleton Praetorians), allowing players to summon up to 5 skeletal minions from bone piles.
Mining Rework:
Mining speed now scales strictly with tool tier.
High-tier ores like Adamantite now require a Thorium or Cobalt pickaxe.
AI Anti-Cheese: Mobs can now throw rocks at players who "tower up" or stay out of reach.
Customization: Added a toggle to hide armor pieces visually while keeping their stats.
WorldGen V2: Initial backend implementation of the new world generation engine, increasing ore density in the Devastated Lands.
Pre-Release & February Updates (Feb 5, 2026)
The latest massive patch notes released on February 5th focused on expanding the "cozy" features and improving creative tools.
Avatar Presets: Players can now save and swap between up to 10 custom outfits.
New Items: Added the Goblin Flamethrower (Creative only for now) and the T2 Furnace with a new model and animations.
Accessibility: Added Ophidiophobia Mode, which replaces Hatworms with Larva models.
Environment: Enhanced Taiga spawns near rivers and improved weather VFX for Zone 1.
Bug Fixes: Fixed shadow flickering on NVIDIA cards and resolved the "flickering markers" on the world map.
